Let's start with what got done from the not so pretty picture side of things.
I found railing for $1.75 a piece - but it wasn't sanded. So one very hot afternoon later those were done and the first coat of stain has been applied.
I've also stained the main support posts, the floor, and the large section of the roof.
I am counting my blessings for all the good weather we've been having. Rain is forecasted soon so I know I'll be banished to the garage instead of spreading out all over the backyard.
Speaking of spreading out - I'm not being too shy about hiding the work from the kids. My answer to 'what's this for' or 'what are you doing mommy' is - building something for the garage. They seem fooled. For now.
This week I must must must start on the chalkboard wall and get second coats on everything else. I will also hopefully get the railing done and perhaps the side walls.
So much staining...
All the Pretty Things
Ok now let's talk all the pretty things.
I cut a bunch of scrap wool felt into triangles to make a garland for somewhere. I've also got beads for garland, felt pom-poms for garland, and wood beads for garland. Yes - it could be garland heaven up there.
I scored a great rug at Walmart (Walmart!!!). I'm still debating getting a second to fill the upper space. I am hoping to do a little layout when the girls are out of the house at some point this weekend.
Then I made the first hanging chalk holder - it's not really macrame but I love the boho feel of the leather and wood against the plastic.
I also started working on the music station. I've spray painted some tin cans fun colours and added some washi tape banding. Today I picked up some corrugated drain spout to stretch out and spray paint too.
