We did in fact get our new couch! It fits in the space perfectly. Being a sectional the chaise give us that extra sitting/lounging space, which means we (all four of us) can now comfortably sit and watch a movie or show together. It's nice and firm (made me realize how worn our older couch was, yikes). Last week I showed you two options and guess what - I went with neither. In the end I chose a completely different colour - the one I really wanted, not the one I was settling on for price. I realize it's only Ikea, and it's only so much $ - but budgeting matters. I also realized that we were building a dream space and so I needed to make this concession. Did I mention the ottoman last week? Hmm. Well it came too and the girls love it. In fact they'll often perch on it instead of the couch to watch a show. Yes my kids watch TV - hallelujah I can make dinner!
Perhaps even bigger though was that all the barn board is up - and it's stunning! And trust me, I want to show you - but because it's such a big and important feature I don't want to reveal it either. So you have to wait a whole week. I also finished the bookshelf because the most amazing hairpin legs came. They're super gorgeous. (I will source everything next week). I found some great wrapping paper to line the back and a bit of varnish over the paint and it gives the piece a fun high gloss look to balance out the rustic elements in the room.
The cedar side table is another project hubs got off his to-do list. The original plans to to paint and distress it but now we are considering leaving it au-natural. We pick up the chair today (big fist pump) and so then I can see all the elements best and we can decide. I really like it unfinished too and so I feel like it will probably stay that way.
Here's the photos - snapped at 11 last night and quickly edited this morning. The yellow looks much better in person and the ottoman - well it's pretty saturated but not quite like that.
- Paint speaker surrounds
- Attach glass doors on storage unit - line with fabric first.
- Sew footstool cover
- Sew one or two more pillows
- Hang pictures, photos, gallery wall **decorate**
No biggie right? Don't for get to click the ORC logo to check out the other almost 200 spaces being transformed during this six week challenge. I can't wait to see progress on many of them and then all the big reveals next week.
